§ 18-1. Use of courthouse parking lots.

  • (a)

    The following-described land which is owned or leased by the county is designated as parking lots for the sole use of county employees and persons having business in the courts or in state and county offices located in the county courthouse in the City of Ocala:

    East Parking Lot: That certain parking lot bounded on the east and west by Northwest First Avenue and Northwest Second Avenue and on the south and north by Northwest First Street and Northwest Second Street.

    West Parking Lot: That certain parking lot bounded on the east and west by Northwest Third Avenue and Northwest Pine Avenue and on the south and north by Northwest First Street and Northwest Second Street.

    South Parking Lot: That certain unpaved parking lot occupying approximately the north one-half of that certain block in the City of Ocala bounded on the east and west by Northwest Second Avenue and Northwest Third Avenue and bounded on the south and north by West Silver Springs Boulevard and by Northwest First Street.

    (b)

    Occupation of the courthouse parking lots is hereby restricted as follows: The use of the above-described East Parking Lot and West Parking Lot shall be restricted to county employees and to persons having and conducting business in the courts and in the state and county offices located in the county courthouse in the City of Ocala, and the use of the South Parking Lot shall be restricted to use by persons employed by the county, all between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on weekdays of each week.

    (c)

    It is hereby declared to be unlawful for any person to stop, stand or park a motor vehicle within the courthouse parking lots as described in this section unless such person shall be employed by the county or shall be a person having and conducting business in the courts and in the state and county offices located in the county courthouse. Each county employee parking his motor vehicle in the courthouse parking lots shall have plainly displayed upon the motor vehicle a county employee sticker or insignia issued by the clerk of the circuit court, and any member of the public having and conducting business in the courts or in state and county offices located in the county courthouse shall deliver to the county courthouse parking attendant, who shall be a deputy sheriff of the county, upon leaving the courthouse, a parking permit issued by the courts, or the state and county offices located in the county courthouse by a duly designated agent of the court or office, as the case may be.

    (d)

    Violations of this section shall constitute an offense. The judges of the county court may provide for the collection by the clerk of the circuit court of a fixed fine for the offense of parking upon the courthouse parking lots in violation of this section.
