§ 18-3. Combat automobile theft program.

  • (a)

    There is hereby established a "combat automobile theft" (CAT) program in Marion County, Florida, as authorized by section 316.008, Florida Statutes, as the same may be amended from time to time.

    (b)

    The board of county commissioners may, by resolution, establish fees for the administration of the CAT program and the cost of the decal. The CAT program shall include:

    (1)

    Consent forms for motor vehicle owners who enroll their vehicles in the CAT program.

    (2)

    Bright yellow decals indicating a vehicle's enrollment in the CAT program. CAT program decals shall conform to the specifications, colors and design of the uniform CAT decal established by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for use throughout the state.

    (3)

    All other provisions of the CAT program as provided for in the Florida Uniform Traffic Control Law.

    (c)

    The CAT program shall be administered by the sheriff of Marion County.
