§ 2-77. Membership.

  • (a)

    The county historical commission shall be composed of seven (7) members.

    (b)

    Each county commissioner shall appoint one member, with the remaining two (2) members appointed by the board of county commissioners at large.

    (c)

    Any member appointed by a commissioner shall serve at the pleasure of the commissioner. Such members shall serve a concurrent term with the commissioner making the appointment.

    (d)

    Any member appointed by the board of county commissioners at large shall serve at the pleasure of the board of county commissioners. In selecting citizens to serve on the historical commission, the board of county commissioners shall consider the interest of such citizens in the history, cultural lore, development and institutions of the county, as well as their interests in actively preserving and commemorating this heritage. Vacancies of at-large members of the historical commission shall be filled as soon as practicable by the board of county commissioners, with allowance of reasonable time for applications to the board and interviews of candidates.

    (e)

    One member of the board of county commissioners shall also be selected to serve as a liaison between the board of county commissioners and the historical commission.
