§ 2-83. Appropriations, expenditures, and budget planning.

  • (a)

    The board of county commissioners may appropriate moneys to support the county historical commission and to carry out its lawful programs.

    (b)

    The historical commission may, by majority vote of those members present, expend funds in furtherance of its duties and purposes stated in this division.

    (c)

    The treasurer shall then submit all expenditure requests by the historical commission and provide an accounting of all such expenditures to the clerk of courts.

    (d)

    All members shall be responsible for the safekeeping of all artifacts and tangible property held by the historical commission on behalf of the board of county commissioners.

    (e)

    The clerk of courts shall be responsible for auditing the historical commission and shall be the official custodian of all funds appropriated for the historical commission by the board of county commissioners.

    (f)

    The historical commission shall annually, at a time designated by the board of county commissioners, present a plan proposing methods by which the historical commission intends to advance its purposes in the next year and provide an accounting of its last year's activities.

    (g)

    The historical commission shall, at the same time, also present a long term plan for the goals and activities of the historical commission over at least the next five (5) years.
