§ 2-261. Marion County Public Library System.

  • (a)

    There is hereby created a department of Marion County Government to be known as the Marion County Public Library System. The library system shall function as a department of the general government of Marion County and shall be subject to all county fiscal, administrative and personnel policies. The department shall have a single administrative head called library director.

    (b)

    Employees of the library system shall be employees of Marion County. As such, they shall be entitled to all benefits of such employees and shall be subject to all rules and regulations governing such employees.

    (c)

    The financial records of the library system shall be the responsibility of the Marion County Clerk of Circuit Court. These shall include, but are not necessarily limited to, payroll and other disbursements and receipt and proper accounting of funds.

    (d)

    Facilities of the library system shall be provided for and maintained by the Marion County Public Library System.
